Görmedim ki kimselerden bir şey;
Bilhassa gölgesindeyken gülmenin...
Bitkilerin güneşi gördüğü kadar.
Gördüklerim ise;
Varsa yoksa "İki dirhem bir çekirdek" dışı.
Beni değil, böyle Yaratıcı'nızı gücendiriyorsunuz!
Son sözlerle varırken vuslata...
Görmedim ki kimselerden bir şey;
Ki, size bir yol göstereyim.

Van Gogh'un "Yaptığım her resim, attığım her fırça darbesi,
bu garip dünyaya tutunma çabamdan başka bir şey değildir",
diye söylediği rivayet ediliyor.
